Tom Neslage – President & Chief Executive Officer

Thomas S. Neslage was elected Cobasys President and Chief Operating Officer in April, 2002 and was appointed Chief Executive Officer in 2003. Tom is a 1974 Texas Tech University alumnus where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in marketing and management. In 1977, he acquired his MBA from the University of Tulsa and completed Columbia University’s program for Global Management Development in 1989. 

In 1977, Tom was named Regional Petroleum Marketing Coordinator for Getty Oil Company. Upon Getty’s merger with Texaco, Tom was named Regional Marketing Manager for Texaco. In 1991, Neslage was appointed General Manager in Copenhagen, Denmark. In 1994, he became the first Managing Director and CEO of Hydro-Texaco, a marketing joint venture company between Texaco and Norsk Hydro.

Neslage formed Texaco Global Products in 1995 and was subsequently appointed its President in 1996. In 1999, Neslage was named to Texaco’s operating committee and given the additional responsibilities of Vice President of Marketing for Texaco Inc. and served as Chairman of the Board of Directors for Fuel and Marine Marketing Inc. 

Gary Absher – VP of Product Development

Gary Absher is the Vice President of Product Development for Cobasys. 

Absher graduated from Purdue University in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. A Professional Engineer, he completed the Kellogg Executive Development Program at Northwestern University in 1999. 

Beginning his career with Delco Remy in 1973, Absher has held various manufacturing and engineering positions before being named Quality Assurance Superintendent in 1987. In 1990 he was appointed Customer Program Manager and was responsible for commercial and engineering relationships with GM Truck and Bus and with Saturn. 

In 1994, he was named Quality Assurance Manager for GM Ovonic, the predecessor to Cobasys. In 1998, he was appointed President of Ovonic Energy Products and Plant Manager of the Kettering, Ohio production facility. He continued in that position following the formation of Cobasys until 2003 when he was named Vice President of Product Development based in Troy, Michigan. 

Steve Allen – Vice President of Administration

Steve Allen is the Vice President of Administration, responsible for the company’s growing administrative requirements, such as information technology, intellectual property, health and safety, facilities, benefit plans and planning. 

Allen graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management. He earned an MBA in Finance from the New York University Graduate School of Business in 1981. He joined Amerada Hess in 1973 and Caltex Petroleum Corporation in 1975. In 1984, he transferred to Texaco where he was a Staff Coordinator in the Affiliate Analysis Group. In 1992, he was named Project Manager in the Alternate Energy Department. He was named Finance Manager in the Power and Gasification Division in 1994 where he was subsequently named Finance Director the following year. 

In 2000, he was named Assistant to Management, working for the Senior Vice President for Midstream and M&A; activities. He retired from ChevronTexaco in 2001 following the merger of Texaco and Chevron.
